It seems obvious to most people who are faithful to their spouses, but those who cheat on their spouses usually get caught. How can I make such a statement? Because I work with investigators who go after the cheaters, and the stories of heartache and heartbreak are unbelievable.
Sadly, though, it need not be that way.
Most people get married because they have made a conscious decision that they want to spend the rest of their lives with that special person. The two are inseparable and marching through life toward the same goals. All is well. All is bliss.
But then life happens. Arguments. Bills. Kids. Mortgages. Job stresses. Family stresses. Essentially the worries and cares of this life wear people down. The first thing to go is the blissful relationship between the two former lovebirds. It doesn't happen overnight but it's a gentle chipping away at the spouse.
The faults of the spouse, which were once overlooked and laughed at, are now front and center in the cheater's mind. Perhaps the other spouse loses interest in his/her appearance. After all, they're married, there's no reason to continue courting that person, right? The house is no longer as clean and the kids are rambunctious. It all adds up.
At first it's a glance, then another, then a wink, and perhaps it's light laughter at the water cooler. The whole office goes out to lunch, then just the two of them. It's platonic at first, harmless really. Then the first real touch comes. It's not a big deal and yet it's the first touch that launches a series of events that is difficult to stop.
Again, there was dissatisfaction in the home first, then "someone that finally appreciates me for who I am! I no longer have to pretend. WooHoo!" Before you know it, what was once a beautiful relationship will probably end up shattered. The marriage shattered. Kids shattered. Entire families shattered.
All because of a little dissatisfaction that turned big.
Cheating spouses will get caught. It's only a matter of time. The technologies that private investigators throughout the country use daily ensures that they have the upper hand when it comes to spouses who cheat.
